LAKE VIEW OPENS TO THE PUBLIC

In a sensational new venture, Jack Frost Tackle have created an exciting new resource for anglers, right in the heart of the south of England.

Jack Frost Director Stephen Mugridge says, "It has taken a great deal of hard work and tough negotiating over the past few months, but we have finally been successful in creating a fabulous venue for amateur and professional anglers alike."

Amazingly, although the facility is quiet and secluded, it is within a mile of the outskirts of Crawley, one of the most prosperous towns in the South. "It was important to us," says Steve, "that the facility should be accessible to keen fishermen and women from anywhere in the world. With Gatwick airport just down the road, the Channel port of Newhaven only an hour away and the M23 within a stone's throw, we expect to see visitors from thoughout the UK and abroad."

Just as important is the association with Jack Frost Tackle itself. "The shop is literally a five minute drive from the lake," says Steve. "We have more than 4,000 square feet of products on display, so it would be possible for someone to arrive with absolutely nothing and fishing with competition standard equipment within the hour."

Asked about his plans for the future, Steve is hugely optimistic. "The facility at the moment gives us tremendous scope. This year, we will be adding separate WCs and showers for men and women, and as soon as possible we hope to bring in carp of around 40lb or more. We want Lake View to become the venue of choice for all anglers in the South, so we will always have some surprises in store!"

JACK FROST EXPANDS BY A THIRD

June sees the construction of a new mezzanine floor, designed to house a brand new bivvy and luggage showroom. We expect this facility to be open in early July 2003, and it will be a valuable display area, making it much easier for our customers to compare brands, sizes and styles before making their purchase. Watch this space for the official opening date.

NEW BRANDING & WEBSITE LAUNCHED

A dramatic change in the entire look and feel of the Jack Frost brand has arrived! The new design, created by Brighton-based creative agency Gladius, follows extensive consultation with JF director Stephen Mugridge, who wanted a fresh face for this go-ahead company.

"We first made contact with Gladius via Sussex Enterprise," recalls Stephen, "and we were quickly surprised by how wide-ranging their thinking is. I thought I just needed a website, but was quickly convinced by their argument that our entire brand needed a face-lift."

Gladius director Henry Hyde explains: "We were fascinated by Stephen's plans for the business and excited by the possibility of creating an image that really helps Jack Frost to stand out from the crowd. The trick is to come up with something that is fresh and modern, but which is appropriate for the industry and the client."

Gladius insists on keeping its clients deeply involved in the process, so that they feel they 'own' the new brand from the outset. "Henry gave us a wide range of ideas to choose from," says Stephen. "It was a bit daunting at first, but he really encouraged us to voice our opinions and understand the process. As a result, I'm confident that all of us have had an input into an identity that we're really proud of."

As for the interlocking hooks logo itself, Henry says, "It was a classic design 'Eureka!' moment when I was doodling the shapes of the letters j and f. Like all good logos, it looks completely obvious now, but it came after many late nights of work."

Keep your eyes open for the new brand to appear in new places over the coming months and in a range of advertising and marketing placements.
